Blast of heat returning to Evansville by Monday

After a comfortable 89 today, some very hot and humid weather is expected to return to the Evansville area Monday and Tuesday with highs possibly reaching 97 or 98, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky.

Lola Teubert, who taught kids to love books, dies at 83

When Lola Teubert was growing up in South Carolina in the 1930s her mother dubbed her a “whirling dervish,” a reference to a skirted, jubilantly spinning Muslim. Ever since, friends have joked that Teubert, who passed away Sunday night at age 83, had two speeds: fast and faster.
