I live in Owensboro, Ky., and my commute brings me through hundreds of acres of farm fields of Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Every year I watch the work, from discing through harvest. The beautiful scenery of the rolling farm fields helps ease the tension after a long hard day at the office.

Expansions in Owensboro to Save or Create 800 Jobs

OWENSBORO, KY - Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear was in Owensboro on Thursday to announce the multi-million dollar expansion projects by U.S. Bank and Pinkerton Tobacco. U.S. Bank plans to expand its Mortgage Center and hire 500 new workers next year.  Pinkerton Tobacco will spend $3.7 million to upgrade its plant and save 296 jobs.

OWENSBORO - Golf is in full swing at city owned Ben Hawes Golf Course. It has been under city ownership for a month. Green fees are lower and the number of players is up.

Green River Steel Mill Could be Demolished

OWENSBORO, KY - Owensboro Riverport Authority President Ed Riney told us plans to sell the property off US 60 don't look promising, and the group will now consider demolition bids for what is left of the Green River Steel mill.
